‘Mama Benin’ film by Roisin Jones

Artist Statement:

“Mama Benin is an ode to all that was lost, to longing for connection to stolen history. Inspired by the Pendent Mask of Benin. This work aims honour the ancestors, it is concerned with psychohistorical, the preservation of history and longing for belonging and identity”

This piece means a lot to me, it is my first exploration in to performance, poetry and moving image and marks a mile stone within my practice.
